Ok, so Eric steps down. Who's going to take over? How many people are queueing up to take over a business that just scrapes by?

Re: Stanley v Brizzell
I think I would have gone home before half time if I could, Kipax! It was truly awful today and it was damn cold. What a pity the fog didn't descend and then the game could've been abandoned!
As for Mangan, I thought he got a second yellow but I've been told it was a straight red and it was for something he said to a Bristol player, not the ref.
If you stayed in Accy for whatever reason today, you made the right decision!

Re: Stanley v Brizzell
This not the time for people pointing fingers and trying to apportion blame.
Cook for his league experience and Dibble for his goal keeping coaching appear to be much missed. But I do not blame any one in particular. Coley and Jimmy are doing their best with the squad problems they have got and whilst Stanley's fans are the salt of the earth Eric Whalley and Rob Heys have to grapple with the fact there are not enough of them coming through the gate.
In this climate much will depend on the management's ability to prospect for good non league players who will give Stanley 18 months and be resold at a profit.
We have all got to pull in the same direction. We must all get behind the club in its bid to retain the league status it has taken 44 years to get back.
We have to view it as as big a goal as promotion last year but it will have to be achieved in a tougher league without Roberts and Craney and with Boco yet to return.
Stanley may need to consider specialist additions to the coaching staff but were JC and Jimmy Bell to leave and Stanley to go down the club would risk further decline and a return to regular changes of management.
I think the club must shelve improvements to the Clayton End and relocating the ground and focus on getting things right on the pitch.

Re: Stanley v Brizzell
Coley spent much of the second half leaning against the dugout, shaking his head.
I think he has run out of ideas and can't wait for Jan 1 to get some money spent.
Personally though, I would have given Andy Smith 15 minutes as the game was already lost and we had nothing to lose.

Re: Stanley v Brizzell
What a huge contrast this afternoon between our management team and that of Bristol Rovers whose manager spent the entire game giving his team encouragement from the technical area. JB and JC did not move from the dugout for the first half hour, and when they did move they seemed more concerned with the officials' decisions than with the organisation and performance of the team. The failure to try any substitutes was odd.
But I also have to say that even the pre-match warm-up has become too casual.
Yes, today was cold and very disappointing.

I agree. But I am at a loss to why people would want to change.

Would he really be prepared to keep throwing good money into a bottomless hole, year after year? Businessmen with a bit of money to chuck around for a year or two are ten a penny in football. People who love the club and are willing and able to finance it regardless, are like diamonds.
Relegation (if it did happen) would not be the end of the world, as Stanley would at least be a financially stable club under Eric. I'd rather have a stable club in the Conference (or Conference North), than a defunct club consigned to history once again.

I think some of you need to get a grip.... True supporters support through thick and thin!!!! good and bad!!!! if it was not for Eric we not not be where we are now and some of you need to remember that!!!!! So were going through a bad patch big deal!!! there is still half a season left so why give up hope now!!!! im sure it will all turn around pretty soon, but if the fans all give up and stop going to the matches what sort of boost will that give the players!!!!

Never a truer word spoken! If anyone's holding us back, it's the stayaway fans and apathetic Accrington public who by their absence have effectively ensured that we can't pay second division wages. Eric and Coley have performed miracles from nothing and long may they go on doing so!
