"and he’s first and foremost a nice lad".....well, I reckon that's the primary criterion met as far as footballing potential is concerned !...
One hopes that those terribly rough fellows who masquerade as League 2 defenders will remember this and treat him with a gentleness and respect which JB's assessment deserves !.
So I too wish him a really successful and 'nice' time with the gentlemen at t'Stanley !.

I'd see this as confirmation of Connor's success so far rather than a replacement.

There hasn't been anywhere near enough good football from us in the final third this season but what there has been has originated out wide.

Mahoney's precocious talent scares the living daylights out of opposition defenders and allows us to stretch play away from our weak central midfield.

If Caton can offer some balance to this - or if Naismith can pull his finger out - we have every chance of coming back from a ridiculous start. Especially with the big man up top.

To be fair for Mahoney I rate him highly but don't think he's quite ready for starting - get hit on with 30 mins to go and let him run at tired legs.
