Does Alec Ferguson still have shares in the club?

Probably, unless he's sold them on to the highest bidder - why would that make a difference to our attendance if he's a shareholder or not??

Re: Wake up the people of hyndburn

A pathetic 1143 home fans at last nights game, against a local Championship side.
Good job PNE brought virtually two battalions of fans with them, we barely mustered one!
The Clayton end was fairly full & in good voice, but I noticed plenty of empty seats in the main stand?
I can only assume most of these were season ticket holders who won't divi up for any cup games?
Well, those misers missed the best game of footie seen at the Wham since Ebenezer Scrooge were a lad!

Re: Wake up the people of hyndburn

A few presumptions there Lord.S!! A lot of those empty seats in the main stand were reserved for those in hospitality - often they don't get used as some prefer to stay in the clubhouse & watch from there.
Don't think you can call any of our season ticket holders misers when they pay their money up front year after year - sounds like you've been talking to Mr.T after his dig at Chris.R for not attending?
Some have reasons beyond their control as to why they can't attend some games & shouldn't be barracked for it.
My season ticket is for the main stand but for certain cup games I have been known to buy my ticket for the Clayton End so yes, last night my seat could've been empty - doesn't mean I wasn't there!

Thats pretty accurate as far as i'm concerned as ive said before some live away and transport can be a problem at evenings, also some are working also cant make evening games, but its still no excuse to me for others who aint regulars, not to come and see for themselves what these lads are serving up for the public its bloody awesome this season, so they need to get off their arses and come see,

Absolutely agree Cashy but Lord S's post made my blood boil - too many assumptions & pointing the finger at the wrong people without any basis for his tirade

Calm down AccyMad!
Yet again you take my post completely out of context & jump to your own conclusions.
Nowhere did I criticise anyone who couldn't make last nights game for whatever reason?
Neither was it anything to do with Mr T or Chrisr - who's making assumptions now?
We had this same conversation after the poorly attended friendlies & last night's cup game was another repeat - unless you feel 1100 odd home fans is a good attendance????
Preston fans obviously felt it was a game worth attending - thank God!
Looking round the ground, the most sparsely populated area was the stand between hospitality & Clayton end, which is mainly for s/t holders.
My earlier post was intended to remind those s/t holders who either can't be bothered with, or won't pay to attend friendlies/cup games etc. just what they missed.

Absolutely wasn't having a go. I gave out season tickets Thursday, Friday and Saturday and asked fans if they had their Preston tickets. Some replied they weren't going as they were on holiday, some didn't do evening fixtures or didn't go to cup matches that they had to pay for. I was surprised how many weren't going or didn't know about the match or when it was.

Guess this was my 'assumption' for the missing s/t holders last night, although I'm certain you'd get a conviction on this evidence!
In any event & in keeping with stanley nick's original post -

Re: Wake up the people of hyndburn

It is a mystery that you can find something better to do in Accrington than go to the Wham. Especially now that Love Island has finished.

It's also a mystery to me why there's been 100 Accy fans or less at Mansfield, Carlisle, Luton etc... away matches are far more memorable than home ties. Or maybe you've got to be a footballing connoisseur to really appreciate them?

Having said that, Yeovil Away? Sorry, a bridge too far after taking 10 hours to get home from thereabouts last Friday. Hats off to those who make that trip on Saturday.

Re: Wake up the people of hyndburn

I suspect Nicks original post is aimed at fans in general and games in general, but as people are citing the PNE game as an example then I'll chuck my hat in the ring - as someone who deliberately didnt go.

Want and Can are 2 different things, i wanted to go but was working in Leeds that day. Not knowing if I'd get back in time I didnt pre-purchase. It was also my youngest's birthday the following day and we usually open presents the night before due to me leaving for work very early.

At some point I had the idea that I'd see if I could get him the away strip, printed and badged, and see if there was anyway they could get a player to bring him his present to the Clayton End. Nice touch I thought, family friendly club personal touch I thought, nice photo opportunity for the programme or website I thought. So anyways, I asked the question on Twitter ... an hour later the read post hadnt been replied to so I sent the same question to the Commercial Guy via instant messenger (pops up on your phone instantly for the technophobes). It was read within 2 minutes but 5 hours later whilst driving home I still hadnt received a response.
"Sorry Rob its against regulations for players to do such things"
"Sorry Rob if we do it for you we'll have to do it for everyone"
"Sorry Rob, we couldnt do that but how about Winstanley bringing it over?
"Sorry Rob, no, but for £25 we'll wish him happy birthday on our fancy new screen"

All would have been acceptable responses but I got sod all.

So instead I went to DW Sports and he ended up with an England Kit. And we stopped at home opening presents instead of going t'Wham and spending a hundred quid.

So a big well done to the Mutes at the club.

We will be back next week, I'm not missing out because of ignorance on someone else's behalf, but that was a final nail in the 'active fan' part of me. Last year I spent a considerable amount of time putting together a proposal for a fan led mega initiative for a years worth of celebrations for the 50th anniversary. I spent 8 months trying to get a meeting before finally just handing over a 7 page letter outlining the idea. 3 months later I found out 2nd hand that they didnt like it because it would be too much work. Too much work to allow the fans to run a programme of events with 3 years notice (4 years when I first raised it). Well I'm sorry but it was too much work for me to bother going to the PNE game
