Youth Cup

Twitter (which I'm not on) says we've beaten Bolton 3-2 and now host Swansea in the next round

Can we have a match report from those who went?

Well done Stanley!

COYR!

Re: Youth Cup

Super result for the Stanley Boys! First half was quite even but Bolton reached half time one goal up. A rather speculative shot bounced in front of the Stanley keeper and he couldn’t hold on to it and it left an easy tap in for Bolton. The visitors were a much tougher opposition than Wigan in the First Round as they were bigger, stronger and faster especially running with the ball in possession.
About 60 minutes into the match though, with Bolton looking the stronger, Stanley scored the vital goal to get back into contention. A few minutes later the Young Reds went 2-1 up with a well constructed goal but Bolton quickly equalized for 2-2. Bolton still looked the more likely to win with their strength on the ball but Stanley got the winner when a cross in was headed goal-ward, was pushed out by the Bolton keeper but then headed into the net for the winner. 4 minutes was shown for added time but the ref played eight before a very welcome final whistle went for a super victory for the Young Reds. 685 attended.
Stanley go on to play Swansea in the next round at home!
I strongly recommend the Stanley Faithful to get on to The Wham in Round three for some excellent entertainment!
Well done YOUNG REDS!!!

Re: Youth Cup

Can’t fault Choirboy’s summary. It was a great result for the Young Reds and they battled to the end to secure their victory. Bolton were a good side and really pressed Stanley in the first half but Stanley came good in the second and deserved the glory.
Great to see the players enjoying the adulation of the fans and families at the end.
Great value for £5.
Interesting draw against Swansea next!

Re: Youth Cup

the lads did well against a good side y thought, thought we coulda lost it at half time bolton 1 up and playing well, but second half the lads played even better, was disappointed with the gate, thought the lads deserved it.

There must be quite a number of fans who do not come on here or bother with the stanley official site much that did not realise the game was on. Thw next game against swansea needs to be pushed more and as soon as the date is known it should be advertised more then there is no excuse for missing it.
