I actually think the photos are good enough not to need any manipulation, Darren. I like them as they are -it's the world seen through your eyes -have faith in what you see...:)

Agree, though I do like the Wainwright one.

I like them all.
When you manipulate a picture you don't necessarily do it to improve it, but to change the 'feel' of it.
You cannot improve on what nature gives.

Welcome back Margaret.

I have discovered on the photoscape programme that the watercolour effect can really enhance a picture which has a certain feel to it. I recently "nicked" a photo off a friend on facebook which I had commented had a Jack Vettriano feel to it in my eyes -two figures in the distance on a beach. Gave it that treatment and sent it back to my friend and he loved it -saw it with different eyes - not improvement on nature but it did somehow heighten it and show him what i meant...we had been discussing the Photography/art thread which "Church" started and you may not have seen yet.

Re: images i have played with

Thanks Dianne.
Yes. I did the same with a picture that I 'appropriated' from Davemac.....and did the same...fiddled with it and sent it back to him.
Sometimes when you have taken a picture, you don't see the possibilities in it....where someone else can.

Yes I have seen the Thread you mention.......I haven't contributed to it because I think 'Art' is very personal......subjective.
You can see pictures on Flickr that bear hardly any resemblance to photography, yet that was the starting point.
Art is about being creative......photography is creative....even when you just take a stab at the moment. You have created an image which is very personal.
Davemac and I have had this discussion.

The effect in the pic in post 2 makes me feel seasick. I have to check whether I have my specs on.

Funny - I just downloaded your previous pic (hope you don't mind) and turned it into a watercolour - this doesn't make me seasick... it's the sky in that oil painting that does it.

feel free to play, its what i do......

It may be just me - I am on drugs that make me feel nauseous, but it's never happened with a picture before!

I like the crayon effect - I have a friend who does drawings very similar to that - he made them into a calendar one year. Perhaps we could make an Accyweb calendar with twelve contributors?

Hope you don't mind, I've pinched your West Beach pic and grayscaled it then crayoned - just to see what would happen...

No, I do not mind at all...feel free.
It certainly gives it a different feel.

Two photos that had the seppia effect in Today in pictures -to show the difference with the originals...

To be properly on thread have added two with the seppia effect, The Anvil from yesterday and another I took of a lucky horse shoe.

Fancy having a play with the scaffolding, scrap metal one too!

Re: images i have played with

What I would like to do with the scaffolding scrap metal one is make it B&W like the Wainwright effect one at the beginning of this thread and then just keep in the blue coiled wire -had a look but I don't know where to start! Anyone any ideas?

Of the 2 I prefer the 2nd one -more variation in colour -the 1st one looks like a box of sausages!:D

Please feel free to frame them if you like them -for the other one I'm not sure -I'm pretty useless at using photoscape -only do simple things. If you fancy a go that's fine!

Open the photo up in photoscape, choose tools, then effect brush. You can then convert to either B & W or sepi using the mouse. To get around the small details choose the smallest brush and zoom in on the picture, and there you have it , the worlds your lobster.
