Fountain Abbey near Ripon, well recommended for a day out, similar to Bolton Abbey - lots of walks, lakes, streams, old churches, buildings and an abbey to look round and over 400 deer (3 species) roaming round the place.
Free parking and free to go round the grounds, if you want to park on the lakeside its £3, think its £7.50 if you want to go round the abbey, we didn't go in yesterday as it was so nice outside, probably will next time we go Last edited by K.S.H; 03-06-2007 at 08:41. |

Yes, thanks for reminding me of Fountains Abbey, haven't been there myself for years. Thought last night would get up early and set off somewhere, but laziness overtook me. Will defininitely do this day out during the Summer though.
Shame you didn't have this photo' a couple of weeks ago.. Lancs.Online just started their photo comp and the theme was 'Fives' .. this would have made a great entry. Well done to our Margaret Pilkington though who won it with a picture of five parachutists. |
