school letters

why do schools trust the children to fetch letters home? i know they dont always make it so i used to tell the parents as they picked the child up..

Dropped my lad off at school this morning, looked around and they were all in their normal clothes, my lads in his uniform! so i asked the teacher, she says, yeah, its non uniform today, you were sent a letter.. i didnt get it,

so... i had to go home, get his clothes and go back up to school so that he wasnt left out... wouldnt it be easier to put a copy of the letter( which is probably sat in his tray!) on the door for when you pick them up?if it was me i would have reminded parents on friday, you have to talk to the teacher any way to pick your child up!

my daughter goes to rhyddings and i have NEVER seen a newsletter since she has been there, and this is her 3rd year!!

But my son on the other hand is always coming home with them, hes still at primary school though

Think it's up to the school as to what they do really.

My son would never bring letters home, and school knew this so any letters that were to come home were given to my younger daughter to bring home.

Have to agree with you though that it would have been nice for the teacher to mention it on friday, or a letter on the door so you could read it when you picked your child up

My 2 are at primary school and the teachers put any letters in the children's book bags for them to bring home.

I don't think it would be feasible to expect teachers to catch every parent after school to tell them any news verbally. There would always be some they didn't manage to catch and those people would say 'why didn't they send a letter home?'

you have to collect small children from the teacher, so they have to speak to each parent anyway, i always reminded them the day before...

I think a notice in the school works better than word of mouth which could sometimes get misunderstood, the specific details etc. If a teacher had to tell each parent the same thing individually it could take ages too.

Oh hek, my pet subject.

Both the mother and I had to search endlessly for these letters for grandaugher, 'cause she was so scatty never gave them to us. Even meant daughter missing parents' evenings , etc., in these days of high technology, not exactly sure what the answer is here

My friend went to drop her kid off for Breakfast club one morning at Peel Park and the lad said "i forgot to tell you it isnt on anymore!" The school didnt even give a letter!!! and expeced the kids to tell their parents that it wasnt on!!

Depended on the letter home if my mum and dad got it .......... anything to do with detentions, parents evening etc was conveniently put in a book and given the day before .... holidays, non school uniform days, trips was given as soon as i came in!!! lol

i rarely got letters home via kids in last two yrs of school but i did get quartely newsletters and then letters through post on important dates . The sytem worked a treat . much better than it used to when i relied on the kids to bring em home .
Also good thing were if child didnt make registration schools automated service would ring me and keep ringing every hr until i responded..

Not at our school. The teachers won't let the small children out of the door unless they can see who has come to collect them but they don't come out and speak to us. The bit where we have to wait is quite well back from the door so if you wanted a word you would have to make your way closer. As soon as they've spotted you they let your child out and then you just go, you don't get within speaking distance every day.

really?? my mum never got any text. I got a few letters at moorhead that was addressed to "The parents of" etc but sometimes i dint give them due to the fact that they are more informative to me then my mum. Plus im nosey hehe.

But yea i think school should leave letters at doors. BUT some kids like at green haworth in ozzy (i went there) put the children on the unofficial school bus and then parents picked them up at stop. Should the driver say "your son/daughter has a letter?? personally i don't think so.

Also Kidd's are kids and will loose a flimsy piece of paper. that's if the rain don't destroy it lol.

ok, i am confused!! i lost a few posts yesterday, i got up to 500 and when i came back i was down to 497 again..... i think this must have been one of them i am SURE i have said this already but i cant find it...... picked my lad up from school yesterday and he has a carrier full of papers, opened it and had a look and guess what?? it was none uniform day on monday
