Briggs Family

Hi all
I am looking for relatives of Henry and Sarah Briggs (born 1850s).
Interested as my GGrandfather Fred Briggs (1882) allegedly committed suicide in 1935. He was a blacksmith.
My Grandad, Henry (Harry Briggs) never spoke of uncles or cousins to my dad (Geoff Briggs) but we know Fred had many siblings: John (1879), Mary Elizabeth (1883), Henry (1885), James (1887).
Just wondering if there are any Briggs relatives descended from these people.
I don’t think we are related to Joseph Briggs despite all being in Accrington.
My relatives lived on Ormerod St.
Thanks
Paula

Re: Briggs Family

I was friendly with a Lyndon Briggs whose parents had a shop in Ormerod Street I think he had two brothers, Geoff who I think played cricket for Church CC, I can't remember the name of the other brother. When their parents sold the shop they moved to Willows Lane and in the late 60's they moved to Southport. I don't know much about the family but I was in St. Peter's Cubs with Lyndon and when they moved to Southport my parents bought their house in Willows Lane.

Re: Briggs Family

Paula,
I have found Henry Briggs(born in Rimmington in 1857.
This man married a Sarah Thornley.
They had six children....John, Fred, Mary, James (who died in infancy) Henry and another James(born three years after his namesake died...)
Does this sound like it might be the right family?
There are a lot of Briggs families so I needed to ask.
I have an Ancestry account so these were found on that site...but if you wanted to search for your family yourself, there is a FREE genealogy website called FamilySearch....you have to join, but it is completely free and you cannot get better value than that!
