Re: Depressing Music (for sugarmouse) & poll

These last few songs are nowhere near depressing enough for Rob & Sugarmouse...!!!

They're positively uplifting in comparison...!!!

True but some of us are easily depressed.
Robs choices were really miserable.

Amazing. Love that song so much-was never a proper fan of Radiohead but-sheer brilliance some of their work was.

Not MEANT to be depressing but works for me

Also, I've just noted that the poll isn't about 'Depressing' music is it!? It's about DESPRESSING music

It does not get more 'Depressing' than Hope of the States , though

Urban legend has it that this one sang by Billie Holiday....several people committed suicide after listening to it.

The saddest song in history is "Gloomy Sunday" sung by Billie Holiday - a.k.a. the "Hungarian Suicide Song". Written by Rezso Seress, he suggested to his girlfriend that they should get married after he finished writing it. The next day, she poisoned herself leaving a suicide note reading "Gloomy Sunday", which is where the title comes from. Several suicides are attributed to the song. The BBC banned the song until 2002.

I've just listened to it and it wasn't that depressing to me. Most depressing LP I listened to was Joy Division "Unknown Pleasures" but I havn't listened to it since so I don't know if that still holds?

Re: Depressing Music (for sugarmouse) & poll

This a good candidate

I actually really love Dakota Suite. I missed a live show in Leeds and they wont be doing any more for who knows how long. They was supposed to do a European tour and he's cancelled it. "emotionally I am not really up to it at this time" which is what he has been saying for years....

For football fans. He is an Everton fan and back when Everton played Liverpool in the FA Cup final; when Everton lost he says he cried, went straight home and wrote this song

This track is - for one reason it's always played in Coronation Street when a couple are having a bad time.
