We won't go into what a 'hanky panky manky hanky' might have been used for.

Though if it had been in the war, anywhere near Warrington, it might have been a 'Yankee hanky panky manky hanky'.

Re: Old local expressions

A friend of mine has recently contested my use of "Popped her clogs" as a euphemism for dying -saying it's modern.

Does anyone know if it was in use around 1910? Sorry if it's a difficult question!
