Watch repair/rebuild

I wonder if anyone knows somebody who 'tinkers' with old watches?.
My son died a few years ago and I have worn his watch since I lost him.
It has broken, and I desperately want it working again. It is not an expensive one but it is so precious to me.I think it is going to need the entire workings replaced, hence I ask about someone who may have the bits required.
Any help would be gratefully received and of course I will pay for the job to be done.
Hoping 'the webbers' can help.

Re: Watch repair/rebuild

Have you tried The Little Clock Shop on Warner Street? There's also a small shop at the bottom of Peel Street, just round the corner from the cigarette kiosk - I've had a couple of watch repairs done there, he's very reasonable - might be worth a try.

Try "A clock shop called Harold", in Haslingdon just off Deardengate, if he is still in business he will sort it out, he used to make his own watch parts.

Re: Watch repair/rebuild

If you have no success there's a bloke in the Holden Wood antiques centre in Haslingden who deals in and repairs old wristwatches and antique clocks, I'm sure he mentioned he had a friend in Ramsbottom who was a watch repairer. It's on Grane road opposite Haslingden cemetery.

Re: Watch repair/rebuild

My brother used to do a it of wheeling and dealing....a bit of trading bits of old tat.
He once got a joblot of junk jewellery with a solitaire diamond ring...except the diamond was a CZ.
Ma took a shine to it(she said she wasn't fit for a real diamond).
Our John gave it to her and she treasured it. To be fair it looked good on her.
Last year John died suddenly and at about the same time the stone fell out of the ring.
Ma was really upset.
I went to get it fixed....to have the stone reset. I met some really sneery people.
In the end I got the guy on Peel St to fix it. He said the stone was very scratched....So I had a new one put in and told Ma he had polished the scratches out of the stone.
She was made up.
It is the only thing that she had to connect her to our John. It was important to her.
So I understand how you feel Boxermum.
