Re: Another nail.........

Yeah, you’re right, Chewbaca.
Let’s just give the FA Cup to Man City in August and save everyone a load of money and time.

Re: Another nail.........

If you think the FA Cup is only about money, why do all those hundreds of non-league teams spend their time, energy and money competing up and down the country, with little realistic prospect of a...

Re: vs Stockport

They did give it a go, but were beaten by a superior team.
Having said that, just before half time Henderson was fouled near the centre circle and the ref went (for once) to blow for a free kick for...

Re: Another nail.........

Given what’s said on the Fishy site about the total lack of consultation, I’d support all the EFL and National League teams agreeing to boycott the FA cup unless this nonsense is changed.
At the...

Re: Another nail.........

Yet again, sporting tradition and heritage of 722 clubs being over-ridden, with obvious financial disbenefits to the minnows, purely for the financial benefit of seven ‘global’ teams in the Prawn...

Agree, would be brilliant if true and achievable.

Re: iFollow and Stanley

So basically more lunch time & tea time kick-offs in league 2, £12 minimum per match instead of £10, with an extra camera if you’re lucky.

Re: Crewe Home Thread

Agree, Pifco, I thought they were two well-matched teams, although Crewe started the second half with more intent and effort and put Stanley on the defensive for twenty minutes or so.
Game of few...

Re: Game off

Looking at Kippax’s photos, when we used to play footie on Highams we would have dreamed of being able to play on such a “waterlogged” pitch.

Re: Former Players!

Seems like the child Charles has been up to his tricks with the Trotters (allegedly he’s been “injured” but, against his manager’s suggestion to stay home and get fit for the end of the season,...

Re: stanley v morecambe thread

I think you misunderstood me, Val.
I too would have Shipley at left back as the default. But I would always also have O’Brien at right back over Mellor.

Rather than trying to be too clever I...

Re: stanley v morecambe thread

I read it a few times as I was so stunned
Shipley is left footed and came on to play left back, where he is best.
O’Brien, who is right footed, then moved across the field to right back, where he...

Re: Players In/Out of Contract

Agree, and from what John Doolan reveals in his interviews, he sees the young lads as crucial to next season.
However, Stanley may need to secure their services before the end of the season as the...

Re: Players In/Out of Contract

According to one web site I looked recently only two players, Baghuelou and Quirk, have contracts into next season. All others seem to end this summer.
But that may not be accurate or up to date.

Re: vs Sutton

They’re a minimum to start with! There are other “likely lads” amongst the Devt. & U18 squads.

Re: vs Sutton

I think your guess may be right given that, of the 27 contracted players, only 2 (Baghuelou & Quirk) have deals into next season and the Prawn Sandwich billionaires are still refusing to agree the...

Really pleased for John Doolan, and the club.
Sensible and pragmatic decision, good luck to all at Stanley in its next chapter of defying the odds.

Re: Marbles lost.....Marbles recovered

Interesting, Joe, that you played rugby at AGS.
I was incarcerated there from 1962-70 and only ever experienced rugby a couple of times. Despite being required to buy rugby shirts (reversible) and...

Re: Season 18

And John Doolan was at Salford yesterday.
Stanley play Morecambe soon - isn’t it simply managers scouting their opponents?
