Re: U's away

Looked like a very harsh red for Brad, and an over-hasty decision by the ref. That said, I thought we struggled today, and couldn't see where the equaliser was coming from until Colchester obligingly...

Re: Bits & Bobs

Hilarious. Two great finishes though, the first with the nonchalence of 92-era Paul Beck, the second definitely reminiscent of late-70s Haggis.

Re: Away at the Greenies

Our new keeper used his physicality well to command his area. Old school. Good to see, especially with the new rules at the top end of the game seemingly allowing more robust challenges on the...

Re: The Gills (Away) Thread

Agree entirely with this. Leigh was consistently bypassed as we targeted Josh. Have no problem with Andrews as the target man, he's a big and mobile lad who can hold his own. But if the aim was for...

Re: Oxford at theirs thread.

Bit of a mad game that Oxford should have sewn up in the first half hour, but also a Stanley performance that reminded us of the qualities that used to help the team survive against the odds:...

Re: Charlton match

Agree. A really positive performance that deserved three points more than it did the one. We were the dominant side in the second-half, and Coley made some positive substitutions to try and win the...

Re: Ipswich Post Match

No problem at all with Seamus being vocal or giving guidance. But screaming and wildly gesticulating at a young lad doing his best and playing in a difficult situation? As for "why are you on there?"...

Re: Ipswich Post Match

Agree that the lads put a shift in, and never easy at Portman Road.

However - not too pleased to see Seamus keep bollocking the kids around him. He's club captain, he should be the one...

Re: Cambridge match thread

That's a reasonable take on things, Andy, and I hope you are right. A couple of things bother me. Firstly, whether the likes of Milton Keynes, Burton and FGR will continue to be as inept as they have...

Re: Cambridge match thread

I thought the ref was okay myself, might have got a few decisions wrong but certainly not a homer and generally tried to let the game flow.

Really solid performance from the lads, good to see such...

Re: F.A. Cup - Rd 1

Something of a long shot, but is anyone driving to Crawley from London on Saturday with a spare seat going? All trains are down. I should be able to meet you at/near the tube station of your...

Re: 2022 signings

I understand that the release of Gomez-Mancini is the biggest surprise of all the youngsters let go by Burnley today. Highly-rated by u-23 watchers.

Re: Camebridge THread

Exactly this. Toby has been immense at times and shows great maturity for a young keeper. He'll put this behind him and move on and so should we. Colby on the pitch means he's the easy outlet every...

Re: The vs Ipswich thread

Agree with Andy that we should have put more distance between us and them in the first half when I thought Stanley were excellent – decent ball retention, a classy finish from Ethan, and then two...

Re: Gillingham away thread

Hard-fought point, Toby and Ross excellent at the back, Seamus also stood out with some fine interceptions. We missed Matty Butcher's ability to bring the ball through midfield and to link up with...

Re: Harry Pell.

Very unlucky not to have had a hat-trick on Tues, the attached screenshot shows how close he was - not that the ref had positioned himself to see it. He looks like he can make a more positive...

Re: Crewe away(for some)thread.

Waiting beside the supporters' bus after the game, a very respectable-looking, middle aged Crewe fan said "Cheating bastards!" to me as she walked past. Given the state of Colby's shirt at full-time,...

Re: Revived Red

Very sorry to hear of Bernard's untimely passing, please accept my condolences. I remember first making Bernard's acquaintance many years ago on a train platform in East London as he was wearing a...

Re: Wycombe away thread

This sums it up best for me, just a general lack of coherence, though not for want of trying. There's no point in having McConville and O'Sullivan on the pitch if they can barely get into the...

Re: Shrimpers Match Thread

We're doing okay. Having more posession in their half than you might expect, but no clear cut chances. Away point and clean sheet a possibility, we could even shade it. Finley looking better in a...

Re: Wimbledon today thread.

We need a midfield. Scotty already on a yellow, we're relying on long balls punted forward and creating very little from open play. Thing is, Dons look like they might be vulnerable if we have a go...

Re: Wycombe thread

Great win, fully deserved after a second half where we got the ball forward much quicker and then worked hard to fashion openings with some direct running off the shoulders of the defenders. Smyth in...

Re: Wycombe thread

Deserved it as well. Not moving the ball quick enough but still created the best chances of the half. Wycombe's Beard constantly fouling Hughesy at corners, ref finally woke up when they clattered at...

Re: Gills thread

It was a hard-fought point, increasingly so as the game wore on. Both sides had their moments in the first-half, a Sean Mac long-ranger for us, but the closest to a goal was an Eaves skimmer from the...

Gills thread

Doing okay here, defence handling List and Eaves, Johnny dealing with what gets through. Making progress down the wings but not much through the middle. Delivery into the box needs to be better.
