Re: Next season??

Used to live in Dunstable. Pretty grim, but popping over to Luton was a good way of remembering things could have been worse .... :D

Re: Next season??

But apparently no changes to the basic structure .....

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53537535

which doesn't affect us in any way, and leaves the chance of a bit of glory open to all.

Re: Bits & Bobs

On the other hand, every the administrators don't bring in if they accept a lower bid is a that doesn't go to the small local traders owed money by the club, who come last on the list when...

Re: Next season??

If spectators are going to be allowed to some extent in October, I would have thought it sensible for Leagues 1 & 2 to start then and finish the season by the end of May, probably binning the Trophy...

Re: Next season??

Unfortunately, the fact that it doesn't help anybody outside the elite doesn't mean anything's going to change any time soon. The deal is between the PL and the TV companies, neither of whom give a...

Re: Bits & Bobs

Really agree about "The Beast" - I thought it was pretty crass of the Wombles to get rid of him after he got them out of League 2 (at our expense ). If it happens again it would be really...

As the official spokesman for the town hall clock, I endorse Joe's comment wholeheartedly :eek:

Re: Next season??

Hope so, but what's the betting it will be in the non-spectatable early part of the season, if things go that way, on the grounds that 150 of us won't be missed one way or the other?

Re: Former Players!

There's going to be a lot less money sloshing around for a while at least, and many owners will be very wary of offering silly money to lure people away until the way ahead looks a lot clearer. And...

Re: Coronovirus

As I understand it, players can't be furloughed if they're training - that counts as working. And employers are going to have to pay part of the salaries of furloughed staff from August.

Re: Bits & Bobs

What's the story behind that I wonder? Who/what has gone into administration? Obviously not Morecambe FC or we'd have heard about it .

Re: Coronovirus

Nothing can be finally decided until the Primadonna League make their minds up about what they're going to do, and the resulting interactions with the Championship. Brown sticky stuff always flows...

Re: Aministration

"Null and void" would presumably mean no promotion, no relegation - and maybe Bolton starting the new season on -10 again!

I thought they would gallop up the table once they got their finances...

Re: Aministration

What, you really think there would be no legal challenges if the whole season was declared null and void so runaway leaders didn't get promoted?

Winners and losers either way, losers...

BBC Sport covered that yesterday https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52590065

I don't pretend to understand the logic of how such a separation protects either the club or the ground ,...

Re: Coronovirus

Yep, agree with that. Promotion without relegation - but possibly only promote the automatics. The others only have a 1-in-4 chance anyway. And it would reduce the number of relegations needed to...

Re: Coronovirus

I've heard quite a lot of squealing from all these sports - a government bailout for RL was reported only yesterday. But in any case, generally their gate takings are much lower than at football's...
