The photo was taken on a sunday afternoon near the copper kettle cafe in 1961. The two woman are Mary and Jean. Jean on the right, either owened the cafe or ran it.

wow I remember that kiosk I used to want to live in it when I w as a kid! And look at the old market stalls! they were fantastic

Len, This is a lovely picture.
Not that I ever saw it, this looks like the umbrella market that started to be built in Jan 1961 and was officially opened in on 30th October 1962.
If this is right then the photo's date must be questioned.
As a post-grad researcher of post-war market design and art I have a special interest in photos and memories of the market.
