Swearing/Bad Language on Accy Web |
|
Nov 22, 2008 - 11:28 AM - by steeljack

with the moderators permission .......
There was a post on another thread complaining about the use of "bad" language and one of words listed was the word bugger, now then, Accy Web is a North East Lancashire based web site and the word bugger In my opinion has a completly different meaning in North East Lancashire, than it does in its usual use in the national daily newspapers where it is generally used to describe the 'sexual perversions' of politicans or persons of the so called nobility/gentry .
I think every Accy Web user has at one time heard one of their Grandmas or family member describe a younger member of the family as " yon little... [Read More]

Is This Right? |
|
Nov 21, 2008 - 9:45 PM - by BERNADETTE
|
My daughter has just found out today that a paedophille has been living next door to her for the last six months. He has been convicted and is on the sex offender register. He was lifted the other day for allegedly committing further offences. I am so angry at the thought of a perv being put in their midst and he has more rights than my grandchildren. Surely they and the other kids in the area deserve the right to be protected from people like this!!!!

Armed robbery on union road. |
|
Nov 21, 2008 - 3:17 PM - by Speedy
|
Just been into work to buy a few things and got informed that last night at around 9:40 the shop was raided by a guy with a hammer wearing a balaclava.
The member of staff was working on her own and was taken to hospital, luckily she has no physical injuries but is obviously quite shaken up.
The robber got away with just over £60, a white car was said to be floating around the area.
Anyone with any information should contact accy police or feel free to PM me if you would prefer.
For those who dont know i work at booze busters on union road, which is where the incident happened.

Graffiti on post boxes |
|
Nov 21, 2008 - 1:58 PM - by Gayle
|
A few weeks ago there was graffiti on the post box outside Rhyddings Park on Fielding Lane so I had a look on the Royal Mail website. There is a form on there where you can report graffiti and they will come and paint over it within 2 weeks or within 48 hours if it's something abusive that is written.
They did as promised and it was duly painted out.
Since then I've looking at other post boxes and have reported the graffiti on the one near the co-op and the one at the start of Stanhill Lane.
I just thought I'd let you all know so that you can report any graffiti that you see.

Benefit cuts for single parents |
|
Nov 21, 2008 - 11:38 AM - by jaysay

It seems that the Government are about to start a witch hunt on single parents for children aged 12 and over (7 and over in two years time) They face losing 40% of their benefits if they can't prove they are actively seeking work. I know nearly everybody has a view on this issue, but for my own part I think they are treading on very dangerous ground, for on, no two peoples circumstances are the same, and there are a lot of single parents would love to go back to work, but at a time when unemployment is likely to rise to close on 3 million, this may not be the right time to embark on this action

'Babies Stressed Out By Buggies' - Yahoo! News UK
I had both types for Jack but usually when i put him in the rear facing one he would hang his out and look round the front to see what was going on (probs didnt wana look at my mug all day!).
I have alot of pet hates when it comes to pushchairs i.e when people put newborns/very young bubbas in buggies that dont lay down flat. When people dont lift the pram to go up kerbs and when people buy cheap nasty buggies without swivel wheels at the front so you have to keep... [Read More]

Just browsing the Daily Mail this morning whe I came across an article about the new BBC 1 drama 'Survivors'. The writer states ''I'm on the set in the grounds of an old country house, in a green remote corner of Lancashire, not too far from Accrington''
Does anyone know where the filming was done?

Why Rip Us Off At A Time Like This Mr. Brown. Oil Has Halved In Price.. |
|
Nov 21, 2008 - 1:53 AM - by fireman
|
In may this year I spent some time in the USA and laughed at the people groaning that petrol was nearly $4. per GALLON. I soon made them feel better when I told them what we were paying since the rise in the price of crude oil. NOW THAT THE PRICE OF CRUDE HAS HALVED, WHY HAS THE COST DROPPED BY JUST A FEW PENNIES. The oil companies are anouncing record profits and is their any wonder.
Get this though I am in the USA now and the cost of fuel has halved overnight to $1.91. pere gallon. We are told the best way out of a recession is to get people spending not to make it impossible to live a normal life, as the cost of fuel is doing for a lot of people, The car industry is laying...
