Re: Paperless Society? I'm Afraid Not.
In the 1980s, as well as the "paperless office" there was the concept that in the future everybody would work shorter hours and have more leisure time. Well, I don't think this has come about! I think that people of working age have polarised into two groups. Many of those in employment are working above-average hours, often because staff cutbacks in their organisation on grounds of economy have made their workload heavier. On the other hand there are many people who can't find work and are unemployed. Wouldn't it have been good if we could have had some kind of Utopian society where everybody of working age had a job and received a full week's wage for only four days work. The other day would have been free for leisure, hobbies, family, voluntary work, etc. Don't think it's ever going to happen!
