Shelley is played by Sally Lindsay, who was the girlfriend of Geoffrey Hughes in the Royale Family, who played Eddie Yates in the Street in the 70's/80's. She's also best friend with Peter Kay, who she persuaded to make a guest appearance in The Rovers earlier in the year.

[The actor who plays Zack was the idol of David Brent in The Office as well.]
