I knew before that I was in a population social group that isn't exactly put to the fore-front when it comes to being a priority, but tonight I have just had it confirmed.

Yes, I am white, yes I am male, I'm also single and in my 50's, this however takes the biscuit.

A rather severe knock on my front door and when I opened it there was a man doing a 'survey'. A deep intake of breath and your thinking to yourself how quickly can I get rid of him.

However his opening lines were, "Oh, well sorry but I'm doing a survey on pets, I've already got plenty answers from white people I'm only interested in coloured's at the moment."

The fact that he was so none P.C. was like a breath of fresh air, however my look of surprise must have been mistaken for disappointment because he said he would do the survey anyway.

All the usual type questions came out until this one, "do you have any pets?"

Yes I replied, "I've got six white mice, four white rats, a dozen albino rabbits and a white dog called spot, but I don't suppose you'll be interested in them because they don't fall into the right ethnic group either!".

I'm not sure but after this and the way he shuffled off my doorstep could indicate that tonight he might just be considering a career change.
