doctors/medical fees before 1948
It every week or so the Govt. announces new fee schedules for various medical treatments , eye glasses, dentures etc. things that used to be free, It got me to wondering what kind of fees Doctors and Hospitals charged for treatment before the NHS was introduced in 1948,
Does anyone have aged parents or Grandparents who remember those days and how much they paid for services ? were the workers in the cotton industry covered by union plans ? were Howard and Bullough employees covered by a company plan etc . things like how much did a midwife charge
Thanks
