Love crimes and punishment.

Apparently we can now do what we like with regards to breaking the law, as long as you can prove you have had your heart broken.

A Manchester librarian stole £175,000 worth of rare books, and sold them on eBay. His punishment being a two year suspended sentence, and 250 hours community service. His defence being that he was depressed after his girlfriend left him. Boo-hoo.

The prisons are over crowded. My answer would be that I don't care, just squash more of them in.

In my opinion this man should have received a custodial sentence, and it sends out the message that you can do whatever you want, just as long as you come up with some sob story, and that if you are caught you might have to pick up a bit of litter. Pathetic.
