Blazey, you may see no shame in being unemployed, but my work ethic means that being unemployed is something of a slur...especially if you are fit and healthy. Being retired is something entirely different to being unemployed.
I have never been unemployed in my life......however I did sign on and draw dole through the time when factories were on 3 day weeks because of power shortages.....but I did have a job to go to when this crisis was resloved.

I am not ashamed to be retired because I know that I have contributed to the wealth of this country....I would be ashamed to be unemployed....but that is a purely personal thing.

Oh and jobs were not easy to come by when I left school as there were many people looking for work at the time...it being a 'bulge' year...but I did get a job.
