Actually Marge the thread was Mancie once again flexing his Socialist/labour class apartheid, but it has wandered into a debate about Foxes, their habits & actions & the values of culling said pest.
I must admit to noticing a marked decrease in Fox numbers in our area where once they were quite abundant. To the best of my knowledge they've not ventured into town & when seen are out in the wilds.
The Germans shoot them when they become a nuisance & a set amount are also shot just to keep numbers under control, should too many be culled the balance then tips in favour of other vermin, Mice,Rats & Rabbits, so it is a fine balancing act controlled by the foresters in conjunction with hunters.
As to Barries point about poison bait, that's a definite nono ! Here there is to much other wildlife & peoples pets who could take the bait put out, which would lead to an unholy row. The only bait they put out treated is that which is used to curb & control rabies, round here isn't so bad but there are certain areas which are regularly controlled.
