Prediction League – Game 23; v Rotherham (away)

We wuzz robbed at our place back on the 16th October; one up in 9 (Parkinson), they equalise with a penalty that also lost us Kevin Long after 17 minutes of his debut; we go back ahead just after the interval (Jimmy Ryan 48), and they sneak two in the last 10 minutes – Exodus Geohaghan (who’s now back at his parent club (Posh) after injury) and Ryan Cresswell 2 mins into added time; Gillingham Revisited it wasn’t!

The week before Christmas they signed Chris Arthur (ex QPR) – a winger – on a short term contract; Danny Coid has extended his loan period from Blackpool until mid-January; Ryan Cresswell suffered a broken collar bone on the 11th December during the game with Aldershot and could be out for a few weeks, according to Millers’ Manager Ronnie Moore.

Since the win chez nous, Adam le Fallover (the foul – if foul it was – took place outside the box, according to the fishy match report) has cemented his place as the leading goal scorer in League 2 (now with 17 to his name); skipper / defender Ryan Cresswell is their next highest scorer with 5; they’ve scored 6 once, 4 once and 3 three times this season, and failed to score 6 times (including twice against Blue Square side York in the FA Cup second round, losing the replay 3-0 at Bootham Crescent and thus missing out on a 3rd Round tie at Bolton). Overall they’ve hit 38 goals in 25 games in all competitions so far, with 36 conceded (including 8 clean sheets); their last 10 games (since the win at Fortress Crown) have resulted in 3 wins, 3 draws and 4 defeats (scored 12, conceded 17).

We do owe them, you may think; don’t forget the opening game of 2009/10, where they took all three points at the Don Valley with an 89th minute winner, as well as the 3-2 overtime win two months back. Is this the week? If the game gets played – if we ever see live football again – will we get our revenge? It was one win apiece last season – so; can we? Will we?

The deadline for entries is, as ever, scheduled kick-off time, which is 3.00pm on Tuesday 28th December. I confidently predict it won’t finish 24 – 7 (Val!); or 6 – 2 (Wynonie); or 3-2 (Dave/Chimer) ……. Or will it? Get your guesses down NOW! Don’t wait for the Queen’s Speech, the Turkey or “These You Have Seen Before Loads Of Times” on the tele ; get guessing!

Good luck to everyone; Happy Christmas from me and my mate Chimer …….. and thanks for playing!
