Yes, Mick Dennis had a right go in the Express - said he had elbowed him at the back of the head - all the pictures etc I have seen showed him holding the side of the head - perhaps that is why Dennis referees schoolboy games.
Not condoning in any way, but surely if it was deliberate the chap would have gone down? My view was that he deliberately tried to block off Rooney, Rooney moved to his left and raised his arm but as they got further apart ,the
forearm hit the chaps ear and not his arm/shoulder. Good refereeing, as good as that for the New Zealander who was distracted from the game because of the earthquake.
