Just found it on Wikipedia

Yvonne Karib is a fictional character in the Channel 4 drama Shameless, in which she is played by Kelli Hollis. Her husband is Kash Karib, with whom she has two children.

Yvonne owns and runs the local shop featured in the series, and employs Ian Gallagher, who was previously the gay lover of her husband Kash. She is a hard-nosed businesswoman who is not averse to breaking the law to make a bit of extra profit.

Yvonne converted to Islam to marry Kash, and is far more devout than her husband. Although white, she always wears Indian dress and was originally never seen without a hijab, although she no longer wears one

The actress that plays Norma also plays Rosettie Wordsworth in Story Makers on Cbeebies, she's so softly spoken on Cbeebies the difference is amazing.
