Tony Blair very bravely said what is on most peoples lips, integrate with the country you have adopted, speak English respect the British way of life and it's values. Will they?

tony blair is a hypocrite we have to remember it was him pushing for communities as in bringing on so calledasian community leaders which resulted in sepearation on many levels eg differences in policing whereby friends of the so called community leaders got away with blue murder

I didn't hear the full speech, but I also think that Blair is a hypocrite......the Labour party did so much sucking up to muslim leaders in the hopes of capturing votes that it was sick making.......now he can see that multiculturism is a joke, he is trying to back pedal like mad.
He can pontificate all he wants, it won't make one ha'porth of difference, because in the main these people who are so keen on segregation are already resident in this country...many of them are British born too.

I think we were very tolerant of other cultures ....... that was until the Government started sticking their noses in and now all we hear permanently is race this, culture that! I can't help but feel sick of hearing about it! I'm far from old and I can certainly remember when race or culture wasn't as issue. By ramming integration down our throats the only thing the Government have succeeded in doing is driving a big wedge between the different cultures.

I can remember when 'culture' wasn't an issue in every day life Tinks, just the fight to survive on what meagre rations the then government chose to dish out, no need for immigation control then, thank the good lord for my memories of an immigrant free Accrington.

whilst i agree that the government is partly to blame for nothing less than forced segregation by ramming the whole integration thing down our throats
it must be said that the british public are also to blame for allowing the government to get away with as much as they do. Why is this ? because noone has the guts to question what they are doing or stand up for what is basically our god given right to be british.
I am by no means a racist as i totally agree with the idea of integration but that means other cultures integrating into british culture and abiding by british law while also having the right to follow their individual beliefs.
and top of the list of british law is that we live in a democracy with the freedom to think, say and believe what we wish and not a dictatorship where these things are decided for us.
Integration will continue to be a joke as long as 1) the government continues to take away the british civil rights which our ancestors fought wars to keep just because they are afraid of what a minority of people from other cultures may think
and 2) all british citizens are treated AS equally by the system as the ethnic minorities

now i know that this may appear a little extreme to some people and I apologize if anyone feels offended by it but in a free country such as britain I am entitled to freely speak my mind (or am i ? )

jedimaster i fully agree with your sentiments, and to be frank i do not give a rats if it pi***s some people off, anybody that comes here HAS to live by our standards end of story. i lived abroad for a few years, took residency in that country, and lived by their standards, it wasn,t an issue for me i just did it. nothing against anyone retaining their heritage/ religion etc, but if you live here or anywhere you should INTEGRATE. if you have no wish to SOD OFF back to wherever.
