Nice find Cherokee. I love the bits filmed from inside the fire engine.

My little girl who is seven and sees things in ways that only seven year olds can calls it the 'writing building' because there's so much grafitti on it.

It's about time it was pulled down, it is dangerous. Maybe a bye law allowing the Council to demolish it and bill the owner would be a good idea.

Gayle 21-02-2007 13:43

Re: ossy fire station closure

Perhaps a task for our local Councillor!

Not up to speed with the 'Ossy' goings on since I moved to safer trees in Knuzden (Tis the far reaches of Hyndburn an almost forgotten area), has work finally started on the fire station?

Gayle 12-06-2007 19:03

Re: ossy fire station closure

Well strange you should ask but I did notice today that the windows had been breezed blocked in - not exactly work on it but at least it's a little less vandal proof.

That is on land that you could knock down and build about three houses on which would all sell for around £150,000 each.

Re: ossy fire station closure

didnt think it would be big enough for 3 houses!
but then again when theres nowt on it it will look bigger, but to near main rd and pub for me:(

Gayle 21-06-2007 19:17

Re: ossy fire station closure

Well I'm just guessing at 3 houses, but they squish a lot of houses in small spaces these days. It was just the principle I meant - buying the land not the building.

WillowTheWhisp 21-06-2007 21:20

Re: ossy fire station closure

It's quite a big plot. Could probably fit more than 3 houses on it if they tried. The question is how many could they get planning permission for.

Depends on who buys the land.;)

Ossy fire station looks like a good place to have a dog fight.

Re: ossy fire station closure

Nah there's not enough room for a proper runway. The planes wouldn't be able to take off.

Lolly 22-06-2007 11:04

Re: ossy fire station closure

I hope in this auction the new buyers actually do something with it this time. The previous owners did ****** all, as we can all see. Its all well and good putting all these pretty flower pots around when the Fire Station just brings the look crashing down again!!

WillowTheWhisp 22-06-2007 11:21

Re: ossy fire station closure

A bit of lateral thinking here - it has plumbing sewerage and power laid on. It could be treated like a barn conversion. I wonder what could be made of the building itself?

Lolly 22-06-2007 12:58

Re: ossy fire station closure

Very little i'd imagine Willow. It, as i'm sure you've seen, is very run down and looks very unstable. I think it would be best just to knock it down.

panther 09-07-2007 17:51

Re: ossy fire station closure

theres a link to this fire station in telegraph about the selling of it, did ya know it shut in 2002!!!

Re: ossy fire station closure

Think about this, buy the fire station at a knock down price, hold on to it for a year or so, do nothing with it, then sell it at a profit. Nice one ;)
