no town street name

silly question, but for some strange reason i was thinking of street names:rolleyes:
I know we have a Blackburn Rd, Accrington Rd, Church st, Baxenden rd, Manchester rd...etc..All Town rds!!
So why dont we have a Oswaldtwistle rd? was it not that important to be given a street name:confused:

I know ....its a stupid question and no one will be able to answer it, but it just popped in me head and i thought id share it with you guys:D

yeh there is, i forgot about that:o, maybe thats the street named after oswaldtwistle, as 'twistle' is about the two brooks meeting int it?

Re: no town street name

I was also told that 'twistle' was possibly another name for 'town' so it was Oswald's Town.

Does this mean that;
Pickup Street is were to get a certain kind of lady or gent if that way inclined, Infant street was a maternity place,
Avenue Parade is were all the lonely Avenues marched,
Monk street is a religious oasis
Church Street for forgiveness perpetrated after visiting the Pickup Street sins

There's a former Hyndburn councillor kate who, although having lived here for over twenty years, still can't pronounce the name right:rolleyes:

I love the streets in the area near the new hospital on Blackburn Rd

There's India St, Swiss St, Persia St and a few other countries - I reckon the town planner was naming them after his favourite holiday destinations. lol
