I need info on the Great Oswaldtwistle Walk
 

I have been asked by a person in Rossendale if I know any information about the Great Oswaldtwistle Walk and what the route is.

I've sent a few emails out to find out who organises the route but if anyone can speak to me direct that would be great.

Is it not run by Ossy Civic society Gayle, seem to think it used to be in the days of Winnie Hogan, but don't know to much about the CS now

It was the CS but, iirc, they didn't have enough volunteers to continue running it and advertising it so it got cancelled.
I think I have the routes on the laptop somewhere but I'll have to search for them!! Once I locate them I'll send them to you as a pdf.

I also emailed a few people who I thought might know and came up with one of the current organisers - so hopefully, he'll know someone who designed the original route.

Great Oswaldtwistle Walk

I've created an electronic Track for this walk from the Route Discription, but I believe there's some errors with it. So if you have access to Memory-Map, Tracklogs etc or a software capable of using gpx files, I would be greatful if you could verify my Track.

This is a very old route description. The routes now taken are completely different.

We are hoping to run this later in the year if we can find enough volunteers.
Anybody willing to help at a check point – possibly in August / September please let me know.

Thanks for info. I thought the route description must be quite old as it talks about the M65 being built :)
