Will definitely know of him .. but quite an age gap there.

Seemed to have been a few siblings, so maybe some connections with Ossy still ?

He's discussed in this thread.

He went to Moor End County Primary, though I don't know which secondary school he went to.

Very interesting article here and the most famous painting of Clark by Hockney

Ossie Clark, the King Of The Kings Road in Holland Park

"In 1995 Ossie Clark, the iconic sixties and seventies fashion designer known for his flowing dresses and a rather excessive party lifestyle, invited the 27 year old Italian Diego Cogalato to move into his one-bedroomed Holland Park council flat in Penzance Street. Just eighteen months later, Cogalato called 999 and said to the operator ‘I think I’ve killed someone…’."

Thank you for giving such an intimate detail of the life of Ossie Clark, he was my great uncle and unfortunately my Grandmother, Beryl, dear sister of Ossie passed away some years before Ossie and I have been unable to find out certain facts.

I appreciate the work you have done here and it gives a true insite into the life he lead and the unfortunate circumstances surrounding his death.

I want to congratulate Garinda on the way he introduced the word 'thread' into a story about a fashion designer. He is a cut above the rest.

So what's being said is "Because the thread is about fashion, making it a cut above the rest thereby following a pattern & knitting it together, or sew it seams meaning blanket coverage as opposed to a patchwork of chintzy dressings ?" Is this a stitch up ? :D

Ace! That would be fab Garinda! Do it!

I have to smile to myself, because I have a make-up bag, which I only bought LAST Xmas, (from BOOTS the chemist) designed by his wife, still known as Celia Birtwell! He had met her whilst they were both students in Manchester.

Their names live on!

Although he had a sad end, to what had been for a good few years a glittering career, his name will be forever recorded in the history of costume books.

Britain was the style capital of the world in the sixties. Ossie Clark kept that focus on the country well into the seventies.

Interesting article about attempts to revive the Ossie Clark label, and the fight to stop it happening, by his former wife Celia Birtwell, and the couples two sons Albert, and George.
