Dog Walkers of Oswaldtwistle - Thwaites Road and The Vine

I am glad to see the members of our community are working so hard to improve the areas that we live by providing us with the great service of letting their dogs fould up our pavements. I love walking along Thwaites road on the way over to my friends house and playing the game "Land Mine Dodging" as I gingerly step of the mess left by inconsiderate dog owners. The children who attend the school on Thwaites Road must be so happy that people let their dogs defcate all over the pavement next to their school. I wonder if they play "Land Mine Dodging" and enjoy it as much as I do. Thanks you kind dog walks for leting your pooch pooh all over where many children play and lots of people walk up and down on their way to the Spar. You must feel so happy knowing that your lazyness is causing much anoyance to the people in your local area. I will keep an eye out for yourselves and you might start to find that the items you leave in our nice part of the world are returned direct to your door step for you to find in the morning when you are wearing your nice new shoes that you bought at the weekend!

Try reporting to the dog warden 01254 380644 or 01254 380645

I should imagine the problem would keep one dog warden employed 24/7.
And unless he caught someone letting the beloved pooch foul the pavement there is not alot he can do.

You wont know until you phone and report the problem. You could try your local councillor as well but I cant remember who yours is without looking.

Why what ward is it in or is it a border between 2?

How does the dog answer the phone?

Employing dogs, just because they're cheaper, takes jobs away from people, and should be banned.

I have just travelled the length of Thwaites Rd using google maps.
I can only see one red dog poo bin and it is on the side of the road less likely to be used by dog walkers.
Accrington BB5, United Kingdom - Google Maps

When I managed to get two dog bins installed near my home a few years ago, it took two years of pestering - local councillor, county councillor, dog warden and the environmental health office (start here).

If you don't manage to get more bins, the one you have could be better placed at little cost. The cost of having dog bins is mainly in the cost of emptying them weekly - (a man comes in a white van )

If it is really that big, it might well be 'community art';)

I don't want to upset you but are they both still there?

Yes (one is visible from my window - will look for the other tomorrow)- so you think that local government cuts will impact this service then?

Maybe it will, then again, if the depression/recession gets worse people may eat their dogs :D

I had heard about a bin being moved as it was underused and thought it was one near you. I could be wrong, the one in question was emptied using the grabs it had that little in it and the big bag in it was original still.

The one nearest me is used a lot. I hear the lid slam numerous times a day.
The other one is near the school - never asked for that one - maybe it is underused - I can't see it from my window.

I like the sound of the lid slamming, it represents the fact that my efforts to get the bin were worthwhile.

Some people are too lazy to use them. I saw a young man let his dog defacate on the lawn below my window a few weeks ago. Whenever I see such like I open my window and shout 'pick up the crap!!!!' He had to ask me for a bag for it , which I supplied.

I applaud you for that Margaret, wish i hsd the nerve to do that.
I would love to spot someone with their dog letting it crap anywhere, scoop it up follow them home and deposit it somewhere appropiate.
I think they may take umbridge if i took a dump outside their front door.

Some years ago a councillor in Spring Hill was filmed letting his dog foul around a kids play area without cleaning up, the problem was it was a very quality tape, but when it became knowledge that this tape existed this chap suddenly started clean up after his dog;)

I agree Im out round walking my toby every day but I take my bags! :)

Rather upset me though that a dog pooped outside my house the other day grrrr

And my cousins kids walked it in. Glad I have ano shoes policy!

Ad my cream carpets wouldnt be very cream anymore!!

Also I HATE people that just let their dogs out the front door! Instead of walking them!

And then they struggle to afford to pay the 2k vet bill when its run over.

Some peopke shouldnt have dogs!!

I agree, I have posted my views on dogs, dog owners and what should be done to sort out the problem but I always get abused when I do so I will look for the post and link to it later :D

Its the owners fault not the dogs.
