Tour of Union Road Gobbinland

Greetings Gobbiners and lovers of Gobbinland! If you go to this Welcome to Gobbinland page and look at the Photo Nav above the photo, you will see 3 ways of navigation. By clicking on the arrows for the Union Road category, you can take a tour of Union Road as it is in May 2011 :)

The photos aren't as good as those on the shutterfly site here because those are excellent and I'm not a professional photographer. But on the plus side, I think you will find Gobbinland well organized, easy to follow and easier to comment on (no registration needed). Arguably, the comments are as important as the photos because they give a chance for anyone to add notes to the history of a particular address. IMHO, family history and local history are far more interesting than stuff taught at school because we can relate to it and see exactly how people and situations have shaped our lives. I'm hoping commenting on Gobbinland will catch on, because we all have a story to tell and here's an opportunity to tell it bit by bit and relate it to streets and buildings many of us know.

The Union Road tour doesn't include any comments yet actually, but Commercial Street does, so if you're one of those people who reads as well as looks at the pictures, you might want to give it a try.

Actually, those excellent photos on Mike's site I was referring to were the Book 8 Talking Shop Project Oswaldtwistle 2006 section.
