hit and run in ossy

my 7 year old , my eldest and myself were taken to hospital last night after some moron flew out of Havey street onto union road without even looking smack bang into my car.My youngest has been left with bumps, bruises and a concussion ,eldest the same and iv had to have a few extra cuts from hitting the side window and windscreen as i can not wear a seatbelt which i am exempt from wearing

the moron who did this drove off fleeing the scene of the accident

if the moron in question is reading this or anyone who has a friend with a silver vw golf possibly a polo which has a banged up front end as of last night be informed that i got most of your reg while you were shooting off and also you went through an area monitored with cctv so on Tuesday the footage will be examined and trust me the quality of the pictures is pretty damn good and i also got a damn good look at you and your pal as your what i assume are supposed to be tinted windows aint that good.

thanx

Re: hit and run in ossy

Sorry Accyman hope all the family are ok , anyway why do you have to wait until Tuesday if the accident happened on Thursday (6 days , thur, fri, sat, sun, mon, tue) until the tapes are reviewed ? A partial reg plate number + type/color/make of vehicle should be available instantationally from any local police car , presume in this day and age all are equiped with 'on-board' computers or even 'walkie talkies' to a central control center.
If I were you I would be down there banging on a desk and demanding answers now , crime doesn't stop because its a long holiday weekend , they are feeding you bullcrap

Any Accy web usrs know which local County Councillors are members of the Lancashire Police commitee who Accyman can contact to get this sorted now .

Re: hit and run in ossy

i have to wait until tuesday because the officer dealing with it is busy dealing with an EDL protest in blackburn and i think hes of duty after that until tuesday

God grief sorry to hear about that Jas, hope your okay, I hope they get the barsteward and throw the book at who ever it was, a VW Golf sounds like a boy racer, when they catch him they want to take his flaming licence of him for good

Must have been frightening, especially for the children.

Glad you weren't more bady injured, and they catch, and throw the book at the other driver.

Seems to be a lot of it about this week, I have a friend in Bolton who's Jeep was as good as written off by a passing lorry (which didn't even slow down on impact!!? - amazing).

Hope you're OK. Sounds like they'll get caught which is good - hopefully they'll get more than a slap on the wrist.

they will have most likely be caught on it so as long as all the cars attending the Asian event there on Friday arnt blocking the number plate i should be able to spot it a mile off and get the full details.Plus hopefully the cameras at rhyddings street and near the co-op record because if they dont then it makes the cameras pretty much useless and a waste of time been there.

Tuesday cant come quick enough. Its very disappointing its taking 5 days for the police to even view footage as this is providing a lot of time for the guilty to dispose of evidence and make up stories.

luckily no one was killed or too seriously injured but it dosnt alter the fact this idiot didnt know this and is still out there driving around like a lunatic and his next victim may not be so lucky

Fingers crossed you are able to identify the culprits. Luckily for you and your family you can walk away(albeit injured),just as they have fled. Things could of been worse. Hopefully when caught, the punishment fits the what if...

Good luck to you all, and hope your on the mend asap.

Just seen this, hope you're all ok. Anyword yet on the CCTV, and car reg, have the police been able to catch them?

accyman 01-06-2011 03:02

Re: hit and run in ossy

well the car was caught on cctv leaving the scene of the accident at speed and was last seen heading down thwaitses road after leaving union road

unfortunately the cctv was not angled in such a way it could see their numberplate so they have got away with this scott free apart from the cost of fixing their own car.

anyone sees an 03 silver golf heading their way probably a TDi from the smoke that was been let off as they fled with a damaged front get out of their way fast

not a total loss theres an insurance beurau or something you can get compensation from when hit by hit and run but it would be nice to see the dangerous driver taken off the road

steeljack 01-06-2011 06:25

Re: hit and run in ossy

this is bull, you have a partial reg plate number , even 40+ years ago we learn't at Norden/Gt Harwood Top Council (not really noted for their academic excellence, then or now) how binary X @) 0s worked in computer recognition, "sodding heck" even in those days Alan Turing was still warm in his grave and he could find U-Boats in the mid Atlantic 20 years before that

entwisi 01-06-2011 07:00

Re: hit and run in ossy

sorry to hear mate and I hope the kids are OK, the cars just metal, its the fleshy things that count. How much of the plate did you get? you shoudl be asking teh plod to run matches of silver VWs with whatever you got that are registered within 10 miles radius of accy, its really not that difficult to do and I'm sure they have the ability and would use it if someone died so push them to use it now.

I'll be surprised if the car isn't either reported stolen and/or found burnt out somewhere

garinda 01-06-2011 07:26

Would it be wrong to post a full description of the car, and part of the number plate you can recall, so we can try and find it's whereabouts?

Can't see why it would G, after all whoever was driving the car was totally in the wrong and can have no complains if accyman uses any means necessary to find out who the scumbag is, so I hope be does post any information he has, always remembering that AccyWeb has a lot of ears and eyes knocking about that could be helpful, go for it Jas

Re: hit and run in ossy

the police tried to run the partial plate but nothing came up registering a silver golf in this area.My eldest got the first 4 letters but he may have been mistaken due to shock .

He is pretty sure it was YC 03 but the plate was dirty .The police have tried variations but nothing has come up.The partial reg may be correct the car may well not even be registered to anyone in this area as failure to stop usually means somethings not in order.Probably in a backstreet paint shop now getting repaired

Hey mate, I spoke to you at The Blck Dog on Monday. Im asking all customers to be on the look out for that car but as you say, most likely not gonna find them now. Make sure you do go through the injuries and insurance bureau's because its your rights to claim that back from other bad drivers who have to pay into it when they get found guilty of such crimes.

Hope the family are recovering well.

Accyman, Ive reposted all the info on Facebook and asked other people in Ossy to do the same. Given them all the info and hopefully, we can find them. Who needs the police when you have social networks? Well, once we have found the barstewards we may need the police or an ambulance!

Re: hit and run in ossy

oddly enough tonight's accident in Ozzy was only a few yards from the hit and run i suffered.

new evidence came to light after speaking to peter britcliff and information regarding the plate with more letters and numbers was passed on to the police.2 weeks since the new evidence was found the officer dealing with the case has not received these details nor has he replied to the 3 messages i have left asking for him to contact me regarding the follow up of this new evidence.

i hope the people that hit and run me and my kids isnt the same people who were avoiding police tonight and been chased because they should have been taken off the road weeks ago

Not holding my breath for a result infact people warned me heels would be dragged and i thought they were kidding but evidently not

thankyou to peter britcliffe who made the police look at other cameras but sadly even when things are handed to the police on a plate they still dont like acting

little update

I saw the car that hit me today and i now have its full number plate.I tried to follow but they drove off like lunatics so they must have recognized my car. They have done a very poor job at trying to repair their damage so lets see how the police deal with it now they have the full plate and a partial on camera to match it up to.

Hopefully these scumbags will be taken off the road for a while but im not holding my breath

Unfortuneatly they can't do that any more SJ they now go by PACE (Police and criminal evidence act) which vertually says kid gloves must be worn at all times when dealing with scumbags:mad:

apparently thats not required although at the time i did insist they took paint samples but the police didn't.Apparently because i gave the first 4 digits on the day and their damage matches the description of the accident that should be enough

I have no doubt when the police question they they will try to deny it so i will have to hope that a 15 year old is allowed to be a witness .May be some of my paint under tehres if they insist it isnt them but im not sure if the police can make them remove the top layer they have sprayed on to cover it up

Re: hit and run in ossy

at least now with the full plate number it should be easy for your insurance company to identify them and let you know the address of where the cars insurance owner lives , odds are the vehicle in question with be parked on the street somewhere nearby . Not advocating vigilantism but sometimes revenge is sweet ;) :D

Sadly in hit and run cases, if the perpetraor is eventually identified, it's not unusual for the innocent victim to be the target of vigilantism, with threats they should drop the case, or accept an out of court cash settlement.

im hoping that the police get to them before the insurance company or the car will probably vanish in a fire or something to hide the evidence once a letter drops through their door.

This is getting a bit pathetic now i shouldnt still be waiting for an officer to go get these morons they fled the scene of an accident leaving two children injured and the driver
