beware of thieves about

Just a word of warning, this morning my mum was in the back yard and a transit pickup was going up the back alley with 1 lad stood on the top looking into everyone's back yard, so if you have anything valuable in your yard/garden, makes sure its locked away, my mum lives on catlow hall street.

Thanks.

Heard of certain people doing that before.

It's like a safari for Tinkers.

Not quite thread wandering, but one of my neighbours was caught out by a scam this week.

Gentleman, who had a very snazzy car, calls next door but one. Says he has been sent by the Police to check certain car alarms, as some were not alerting the station when they went off ?????? He could correct this fault and requested a £20 deposit. Neighbour only had £13 cash in the house which she handed over. He said he would return next day for the balance. Of course he didn't and all that appears to have been done is a few stickers on the car windows.

Was reported to the police and, seemingly, had been round the estate ... not quite sure who he targeted though. If he called on me ... never heard the bell .. but don't hear it sometimes when I am in the back room.

I know .. my neighbour was gullible, however, some of these fraudsters can be quite believable I suppose. :(
