Its about time the Council installed the checkpoint I have asked for.
Its to keep you Accy (and Church) lot out of Oswaldtwistle :D

Have they removed the bridge yet at the end of High Street?

Think the bridge is still there Neil, but I believe they are working on the machine gun turrets:D

I recall a time when Catlow Hall St and Mayfield Ave were not 'joined up' and when the bridge on High St was pedestrians only.

Where the steep bit is now, there wasn't any road.
Not many people had cars then so it didn't matter much.

Do you mean Mayfield Ave and Fairfield St , Margaret ?

I can remember High St being more of a dirt track which the odd driver used .

Where the plant nursery shop is - yes, it is Mayfield Ave when it reaches the Ossy boundary.
I recall that Accy council and Ossy council couldn't agree on sharing the cost of joining up the two roads.

OK I mixed up Mayfield and Fairfield - a field's a field whatever:rolleyes:

It was only given a posh avenue name because the posh houses on that stretch didn't want to be part of a street -Catlow Hall St - there aren't trees on grass verges so it shouldn't be an avenue.

Its been a little moist today, only fine for a couple of hours while I was in the park checked on our Polish Bantam chicks.

Not sure if they will lay tarmac with it wet, wont it crack the surface off when the trapped water freezes?

At 9.30 today the tarmac laying machine is still sat there and a JCB and the road is full of parked cars. Morning morning job I guess when less cars will need moving. SUnday morning is terrible with all the lazy Church visitors dumping cars all along that stretch because of the 2 churchs close together.

No but there were none before. I have seen a few newly laid roads recently that are nothing like flat. I only drove a long the first bit from Rhyddings Street but it looks good so far.

The roads are here are terrible at the moment.

One of the worst must be from Intack Lights down to the McDonalds roundabout.
