I got told about 6 months ago that a group was trying to get funding for a "drop-in" style addiction centre - might all have come to nothing by now though.

What is it about Indian restaurants, and take aways...you can get 2,3,4, all next to each other on the same block, but you only ever see 1 chippy, or 1 cafe or one coffee shop......when have you ever seen 2 chippys next to each other???

By the way, have you seen the old bed shop on the way in to Accy. It's being turned in to a very large pound shop. It has a large, cheap sign on the front that looks like it has been painted by the kids in a nursery school. Another very classy joint for Accrington to bring in the punters from other towns. Bring back the dark, satanic mills.!!!:do-one:

Maybe there is method in the madness. The council are going to spend the portas money on improving Blackburn Rd, so they will no doubt all get swanky new signs at no cost to them

If the Church Commercial is anything to go by they will just ignore it like it's not there and leave it to rot and turn into another blot on the local landscape as a reminder of better times.

This subject could be a great idea for a voting competition to A: What would you like done with the site and B: What do you expect will really happen to the site.

Work being carried out on the building opposite the commercial, don`t know what it`s going to be though. Hopefully commercial will be next.

It probably works out cheaper than putting a poster on an empty shop so good luck to them.

I would like to see it knocked down. And the buildings at the side of it and a decent road junction created

Hey, now there's an idea, but why stop at knocking the Cross down?

Do like they did in the highlands, knock everything down turn it over to sheep and force Ossy folk to wander to the coast to make a living from fishing?
No, that won't work, the sea's overfished already, damn two hundred years too late!
