I think it's wonderful that you go there every Friday night, it's far better than getting stuck doing the same thing week in week out.

:alright:

Is the Moorend Chippy opposite the Co-op in Oswaldtwistle?
If so I started to use it when my wife was in hospital and I called on my way back home if I came back via Knuzden. Now she is home I go every Monday Wednesday and Friday at 4pm for our tea and I recon it is one of the best around.
A chap with a mobo scooter is usually in at the same time as me on a Friday.
The owned of the chippy is very friendly even though he is a southerner form Essex.

If the Moorend is not opposite the Co-op then forget the above paragraph.

I've forgot it Gremlin moorend is further up the road, or it was the last time I look, they could have changed it though:rolleyes::):D

I believe it lost the title, shortly after this thread was started, in December 2004.

OK jaysay,
I was thinking that it was the chippy opposite Co-op because a pedestrian crossing was mentioned earlier and Moorend was in the post.
The crossing opposite the Co-op has been a bit dodgy up until last week.
It seemed to take ages if at all to let the pedestrians cross.
I really must get to know me new surroundings better if I am to stay local, even though I drive a mile for my chips.

I rarely get takeaways, but when I was having my bathroom refurbed in March 2010, I bought a fish there. I did notice that the young lad who served me used his bare hand to move the fish and he had just handed out some change. I got the 'runs' that night which was fortunately over before the workmen commandeered my bathroom again the next day.

WHY did you eat it if you'd noticed what he'd done Margaret?

Last went about 2yrs ago.. got my fish chips and peas all stuck together in a takeaway carton..haddock and chips were good but would have liked them just wrapped in paper.. and before anyone talks about health and safety it is still allowed to wrap food in paper

Kind of makes you wonder how so many wrinklies with "so called modern day alergies" have managed to live so long ........ can anyone tell me why we never heard of Accy Vic, Queens Park, the Royal Infirmary , or Park Lee (isolation) Hospital ever being inundated or closed during the 50' and 60s ,when lets face it , personnal hygiene wasn't near the top of anyones agenda, lots of folks still had outside lavvies, and were still using poes(sp?) due to mass outbreaks of salmonelia (sp?) or botulism .
The only time folks got the 'runs' in those days was during a £40 two week all inclusive (inc flights) holiday in Greece or Spain

sorry for thread wander , think the invention of the "internet" has a lot to answer for , think the main problem is folks spending to much time sat too close to the front of a screen and having their brains scrambled. ;)
