i am using the sygate firewall and have never had any probs and also run the much loved avg which is available from [U]www.grisoft.com and also have never had a prob

If you are using a correctly configured router with built in hardware firewall and not a xdsl modem you don’t need all the software firewalls. i use etrust corporate on a company laptop with my buffalo router and i have no problems with viruses/ hackers as the router does all the work. if you are going to use software stay away from Norton internet security it takes over and slows everything down. i agree with Cyfr Kaspersky Antivirus is very good

I'm using AVG & Zone-Alarm. Both have always done the job for me. I recently switched from BT to Talktalk & started using thier security system, it was awful & caused more problems than it sorted out. I soon swapped back.

i would say Mcafee desktop firewall is probably the best after of course a router based firewall. Antivir is an excellent free antivirus packageas good if not better than both norton and mcafee.
Spybot search and destroy also the best spyware tool out there... try stinger too it routes out known worms etc and it is free .
