Just FYI:

ISO Standard 8601 (International Organization for Standards - with ISO explanatory text) Prescribes the International date format as YYYY-MM-DD and the time format as hh:mm:ss for Internet use.

And the point of that is? ISO standards are fine where it is critical for all parties to know what standard something is in, for joe public it matters two hoots.

I still think DD MM YYYY makes more sense thn MM DD YYYY ;)
