Email/IMAP problem
I prefer to use IMAP rather than POP3 for some of my emails, I want to keep the original on the server as well as my PC, I can then see the same emails on my laptop - right, that bit over :)
When I download my days emails into Outlook Express, everything is OK, when I delete an email that I don't want it just puts a red line through it, this is still on the server, if I connect with the laptop it downloads it even though I presumably deleted it, why doesn't it delete if from the server and put it in the trash? am I missing something somewhere, way I have to do it is log directly into my account and do it there, is it possible for Outlook Express to do it? |

Re: Email/IMAP problem
look for "Purge Deleted items" option under edit or tools(Can't remember which). This is what permanently removes emails from the imap folder. Delete marks then ready to be purged only

Just tried again - Nothing  Restarted Outlook Express - Nothing  Gone back into OE - All gone :D Only thing I can put it down to was I had a windows update and had to restart the PC, having left the "purge deleted items when leaving IMAP folders" ticked, a restart was what it needed, when I have tried it in the past and it hasn't done anything I have removed the tick  Haven't logged on using webmail yet to see if they have gone out of there, I'll check later. Thanks |
Re: Email/IMAP problem
NP, Not a lot of people use IMAP tbh
Unless you regualrly use lots of PCs you can normally manage with a combination of POP3 and webmail |

I have a few address's that I use for different purposes and I can't be bothered keep logging in via webmail, thats why I prefer to use IMAP |
Re: Email/IMAP problem
aye, I wasn't saying it was wrong, just a bit unusual for a 'home' user
