Google?

Has Google been hijacked, or is it down?

Can you access it?

From my bookmarks I get taken to a Talk Talk page, when l click Google.

I can only get Google maps, and from there, when I click on Google Web, get taken back to a Talk Talk page.

Thanks hun.

It must be me.

I can't get onto Google no matter what I try, but everything else is fine.

Odd.

Could someone put a link to Google here, and I'll try that?

Thanks.

Thanks.

Didn't work.

Takes me to a Talk Talk page.

(Which might be my internet provider. I signed up with Tiscalli.)

I can get Google maps, but from there nothing else.

Very weird.

Thanks for your help.

I'll just cross my fingers it goes right soon.

was on the radio earlier that Google , Wikipedia and You-Tube had all been hit at the same time in the last 24 hours but 'normal service' had been resumed

BBC News - Google acts to fix YouTube flaw exploited by hackers

Gremlin 05-07-2010 18:22

Re: Google?

If you type "www.google.co.uk" in your browser it should get you the google page.

next go to tools and internet options, it should show your home page and ask if you want to use current which will now be Google, Click current and down at the bottom click apply.
You should now get google up when you open a browser.
That's how I do it when all goes pear shaped.

Arrgghh!

It does bring up the homepage from Neil's link, which I couldn't get before, but when I click on Images or Maps etc, it goes back to Talk Talk page.

Re: Google?

It is a Talk Talk problem unfortuneately but there is a fix by using another DNS server but you might not want to do it if you are not that techy.

I might be around you way tomorrow and could make the changes for you if you like

Neil 05-07-2010 18:53

Not a lot of people know that, evidently:D

A reboot just worked with a router that was being a pain in the backside as well

I think it was the bootin' I gave it with my foot, that did the trick.

The boot treatment used to be called 'percussive maintenance' when i was working....and if percussive maintenance broke whatever it was you were trying to fix...well, you needed a new one anyway :D

I don't like google chrome since anybody sat at ur pc can access ur passwords in the settings

EDIT I take it back... it appears firefox has that same option too

Make sure you set a 'master password' in the settings, I assume Chrome has this as well as Firefox....

mattylad 12-07-2010 06:56

Re: Google?

how do you do that in ff?

Restless 12-07-2010 16:48

Re: Google?

I am using firefox 4 Beta at the moment, i just found that when you do add the master password it asks you every time you load Firefox up for the password.....Annoying!

On firefox 3
tool/ options / security / Saved passwords
Set master password

click show passwords and there you can see them. Setting master password will stop anybody from accessing them

Leave the lad alone when your running Windows 3.1 using a 1200 baud modem, it does take a while to answer.

It was an early version of DOS, about 64k of ram a massive 20 meg hard drive for me, with a super fast 2400 baud modem, my lad was about 14 & into bulletin boards, he left the system on for a full weekend!
The cost of the phone charges meant we were on incoming calls only for 3 months while we sorted the bill out.
