Burnley website

I have looked at websites for towns other than Accrington. None can hold a candle to Accyweb.

Today I learned that a website previously known as Burnleyweb has changed its name and is now Lancashire-online. Although Burnley-orientated at present, the webmaster hopes to attract material for the forum from across the county and beyond. He is clearly putting a lot of time into the site and deserves praise for this. I am full of admiration for our webmaster and his aides. They have achieved a top site and work hard at keeping it that way.

Re: Burnley website

Burnleyweb has been rather run down for years.

And I don't think this is the first time for lancashire-online - ISTR that name from neil there several years ago.

imo giving it a makeover will not get i any more posters.

I agree Bob, Burnley Web should be really good but it's very hit and miss

It was Lancashire on Line when I first joined in 2007, as you say its gone down over the years it was quite busy when I first joined. Neal who runs the site (and others) has work really hard to make it work, but when nobody use it the games up. It actually shows just what a good product Roy has got here in Accy Web, can't think there is a comparable site anywhere which has over 18000 members and still growing and has as much traffic as it does, think we all owe Roy a big thank you:mosher:

Most big towns have similar active forums.

Although I wonder how many of the 18k members actually post? I bet most of them joined because of the footy club.

I would also suggest that Accyweb is far more succesful because of the integrated Stanley section.

Maybe a factor Dave but I think Accy Web would be very successful in its own right without the Stanley section as there are lots of people who never set foot in that section

Mmm but stanley section is popular and a major reason for postings & new members also interest - yours truelly joined because of stanley section :mosher:

Many stanley people dont go into main sections becaue of in house snipers & politics and they may feel same about general sections but they dont complain about it:dflam:

Re: Burnley website

Less, do all 18000 members pay to come on?
No.

When someone sets up a community forum they do it because they want to.

Thing is, not everybody is interested in football and they don't always want to if the ultras are allowed to wave flags or not.

But just because someone has said they are not interested in reading the Stanley threads you always have to bring up the same old crud about paying to use the site.

Cheers Neil, that link should be useful - it keeps the new posts to a single page & makes skimming through them easier.

I bring up the same old crud because ungrateful sods like you find a need to complain about the football section and other things rather than appreciate the site as is.
If you don't like it as it is don't complain, build a perfect one, oh, and you pay for it every month.

Think your spot on there Less, Like a lot of people I use Accy Web every day, its like a drug, can't think what I did before I became a member, its even more pertinent now given my lack of mobility, at least I know whats going on in he area. I donate to the upkeep of the site, because its worth it, especially seeing the enjoyment I get out of being a member

mattylad 29-09-2010 10:58

Re: Burnley website

Less, why do you think that I a ungrateful?

I am not being ungrateful - I just do not have any interest in a game where they kick a ball around a pitch every time. Instead I am interested in the rest of what goes on in Accy because I work here & live close by.

There will be many thousands of other members who are also not here just for the football, are you to be offensive to them too?

Why if you have such a thin skin and find my replies offensive do you waste our time, (that's our time, yours and mine not accywebs members collectively, they have their own opinions of both of us), by asking me, stupid questions?

So you would like to know what I am and what I do for AccyWeb?

I am the sites decoy, I keep miseries like you busy while everyone else enjoys the site.
If I didn't shoulder this responsibility you and people like you would have
taken over years ago and AccyWeb would unfortunately be like Burnleyweb
has become, a shadow of it's former self because people with no sense of
humour are allowed to rule the roost.

Get with the program, AccyWeb isn't perfect, Roy & his team of mods welcome
positive criticism but if the best you can do is complain because of the
successful combination of a chat site and football site makes it hard for your
little brain don't complain make a site that suits you.

Whatever you do don't tell him about the executive washroom you look after for the AccyWeb elite, (he'll turn up and expect to get in).

Not difficult at all cashy, first off I never bitched about it - I just agreed with a comment that Margaret had made - how is that bitching?

But because someone has commented that they do not want to read the stanley
stuff y'all have to have a go and start being offensive about it.

Now I'm to be blamed for the demise of Burnleyweb. a website that I have not been on for over 5 years.

Somehow I think it's y'all that need to chill out & stop bitching yourselves.

Well I've no problem with that, I know Neil/Niel has worked hard over the years, and if anything deserves the attention of people from Burnley to take it back to and above what he had at it's peak.

Just like Roy, he has given himself and his resources selflessly to create what aught to be an asset for that Area.
Everyone in Burnley should get behind him and return it to the site that it should be, I know Roy would hate to see it go, like accyweb, it is a pioneer of the Lancashire area and areas beyond.
