The pub is the Star which was in Nuttall Street. My uncle Bob Wilkinson's hardware shop was about quarter of a mile further along on the other side of the road. I don't know the answer to the second part of the question.

Star Inn junction of Nuttall St and South St, next door but one to Dickey Scents. That part of Nuttall St was demolished in 1966, I ahve several photos around that area. Quarter of a mile further on and you would have been up Rileys Hill.

That Building looks like Highams.

A question to Retlaw & Cashman -- are you saying that the arrowed building is Highams Mill ?

I know that the arrowed building is not very clear, in fact Gobsmacked said he couldn`t see the building ( try Specsavers or a duster on the monitor ) consider a smiley here.

However, just think about the location of the building in respect of its elevation -- then try again.

Hi Retlaw,

I wonder if you would be kind enough to either post your pictures of Nuttall Street on the forum or PM them to me. I have great interest in that area and I am particularly looking for shots of my granparent's, later my uncle's, hardware shop at 75 Nuttall Street.

Thank you,

John.
