Market hall revisited........

Hi all. I,m fairly new in the area (17 years), and at the moment trying to piece together the history of accrington town centre, especially the markets and shops and how they have changed over the last two centuries. I am hoping that someone will be able to remember what it was like as far back as possible. Thanks........

Hello echomaster  welcome to accyweb

I have on loan from my father-in-law an excellent amateur video called Accrington Past and Present made by Gordon Moore and Ken Scott. He purchased it from Ossy Mills many years ago.

It's 1 1/2 hour video that shows all the town centre developments, the sunken gardens, the indoor and outdoor markets, the building of Eastgate in 1990. It has some really old film and alot through the '50's. If you can get your hands on a copy it's well worth a watch :)

Hi echomaster, Ossie Mills don't have any more, but you can always ring Gordon Moore at Springtime Video Services: 01706 215914. I'm sure he will be more than happy to help.
