any old photos !!
 

i would be grateful of any old photos of Abbey St.,Navigation Inn Blackburn Rd.Davy St(now demolished,i think in the 50's).
Also does anyone know anything or have photos or info on the Davy Family (Tailors and Woolen Drapers) of Abbey St. Accy. Hartley Davy,William Bradley Davy & Edwin Grasmere Davy

Hi,
I have a unique relationship to these drapers.
My husband's forbears were sentenced to 10 years transportation to Australia for stealing from this shop in 1844! The family name was Hargreaves and father (Henry), mother (Jane) and three sons - John, Howarth and Holden were all involved. Their booty included 60 yds of cloth, 18 pairs trousers, 162 waistcoats, 87 handkerchiefs, 7 wrappers, 1 cap, 18 yds braid and 6 pairs of socks. Quite a haul.
What a shame that it is no longer there, as a photo could be added to our family history hall of (sh) fame.
