Re: railway coaches

I seem to recall some old dark red coloured coaches that never seemed to move from one visit to the next. I never knew they were used as holiday accomodation. maybe I'm thinking of the wrong thing, or got muddled ?

Re: railway coaches

According to Andrew McRae 'British Railway Camping Coach Holidays' (Foxline Publishing), British Railways largest concentration of camping coaches was at Squires Gate near Blackpool, until their ultimate demise in 1971. There were sixteen coaches, one of them a linen store. The accommodation vehicles were numbered M921328M to M021396M inclusive allocated en bloc to Squires Gate on delivery in 1954. M021395M went to Aber circa 1956 and was replaced by M020457M. There were premature casualties prior to 1971 but all the information cab be found in Andrew's two volumes on Camping Coaches. Hope this assists.
