Please hold on to them until you have absolute proof of identity, I do have a William Taylor in my family but I’m not aware of his Service during the first war at this time. The unfortunately this is one of those situations where there will be a number of claimants.

My William Taylor was my Great, Great Grandfather. I am current looking for five set’s of Medals from the first war.

Just Checked the information I do have and I’m sorry to say it’s not my direct relative. Although I have no doubt that there would be cousins.

Chris, thank you anyway……this offer shows the measure of your understanding and respect for this mans service. I wish you every success in finding a living relative. Good Luck.

William Taylor Ordinary Seaman. Service Nu J49116, last served on H.M.S. Wellington, and lived at 61 Trinity St, Oswaldtwistle, he was registered as an Absent Voter Nu 6521, he survived the war. There should be relatives still in Ossy, but Taylor is a common name around here, could be millions of claimants, you should'nt have put his service Nu up, and let the claimant prove it.

Finding Royal Navy Attestation Papers is proving difficult.

Retlaw.

The Royal Navy also named shore bases as if they were ships.
May have been a depot.
