Ready for your next quest.
Here it is, where is it.
I've also posted another picture of Christ Church, same year 1848, and because of the draughtsmanship, I'm presuming its the same artist.

Now that is difficult ... no clues there.

Wonder how the artist ever got those cows to stand still !

I wonder if that spotted scarf covering that woman's face completely is some subliminal message ;)

If you go left off Abbey St & travelling North, its Spring Gardens, Black Abbey St, Oak St, Warner St, Little Blackburn Rd, Queen St, Tasker St, Infant St & Peel St. If your going South its Avenue Parade, Stanley St, Barnes St, Plantation St, (Birtwistle St) & Sandy Lane.

You'l have to get your broom stick out and do a flyover. :theband:

Whats Make believe, Those buidings actually existed. They were there in the 1930s, I've seen them often. One of them is still standing although tarted up, a lad I went school with called Croasdale lived in the first building, the one thats still standing.

You will have to be more precise. Sandy Lane starts at the junction with Adelaide St, and continues up to Blue Slates.

As you go up Sandy Lane, past the college and past Heathland, there's a house that looks like the one on the right in your picture. It's been renovated a lot. I think it's opposite the school (St Annes and St Josephs? - not sure what the school is called).

Do you mean just past Barnfield Rd & Broad Oak Lane junction on Sandy lane, if so your right, but what was it known as. The other properties had been there a long time, a real old area of Accrington.
The house thats been done up was the home of the chaufeur for MacCalpine's.
I got his name wrong its was Crowe not Croasdale.

Didn't have a sister called Kathleen did he ? Was funny, I used to be friendly with her at school. When we were together, asking our names caused amusement, as my maiden name was Rooks ... :D

Well done Gayle .. am going to hand over my pointy hat.
Have an idea of the name, but not sure ..need to be able to prove it to our quizmaster.

Okay Katex.
I'll give you that one, but its real name was Broad Oak fold, that tree is supposed to be the oak. Do you know how many Folds there were in Accrington, and why they were called Folds. Or would you rather have a new picture puzzle.

Folds ?? No idea how many and what it means ..sure you are going to tell me, and seriously would love to know. Not googled at all .. perhaps it was summat like an encapsuled place in a bubble or dip in the landscape ?

New one please. :D
Gotta' give this to Gayle though .. she found it first, after that was easy.

A fold was a place of refuge from invaders, the last one to disappear was Broad Oak Fold. Before it was demolished for the present Legoland, all the houses only had widows facing the inner yard, in the form of a square and a big gate, every one including cattle would dash inside close the gate.
The Scots were the main culprits.

Not going to say any more as I might put some pictures up of Folds.
