Three storey houses were likely handloom weaver's dwellings, where the work went on on the top floor. Other than that I can see no other clues

Done some checking on hand loom weaving in Acc,
In the 1851 census there were 48 hand loom weavers left. There were 994 power loom weavers, 2 Silk weavers and two Dandy loom weavers. The houses on the left showing three storeys did'nt exist in 1851, by the time they were built, hand loom weaving had vanished. Retlaw. |

Looks like she had the same picture as you :theband: Links between Settle and Accrington And I won't stop googling :p... and no way will you stop Margaret ... gawd ... might as well chuck her in the Hyndburn to be swept out to sea. Is better fun walking around though (well, when it's not raining). |
