Next picture.
Where was this.
what was its name.
I've chopped some of the upper part off,
to make it harder.

Three storey houses were likely handloom weaver's dwellings, where the work went on on the top floor. Other than that I can see no other clues

Ah but there was, a building in the background would have been a major clue.

Sorry Margaret, no handloom weavers, the buildings on the other side were only two story's high, those shown on the left were some of the last cellar dwellings.

Done some checking on hand loom weaving in Acc,
In the 1851 census there were 48 hand loom weavers left. There were 994 power loom weavers,
2 Silk weavers and two Dandy loom weavers.

The houses on the left showing three storeys did'nt exist in 1851, by the time they were built, hand loom weaving had vanished.

They were demolished as part of the Hyndburn culverting?
That chap stood on the wall is watching something unusual

Sorry Margaret, all the culverting had been done by the mid 1860. Those are two children peeping over the wall, the lad on the right is wearing a flat cap.
I don't think any photography was being done in Acc in the mid 1860. That picture is circa 1900.

Nah, nah ... look what I have found online from a one Pat Smith :-Attachment 14688

Looks like she had the same picture as you :theband:

Links between Settle and Accrington

And I won't stop googling :p... and no way will you stop Margaret ... gawd ... might as well chuck her in the Hyndburn to be swept out to sea.

Is better fun walking around though (well, when it's not raining).
